This page can’t be displayed in Internet Explorer

Recently I was rebuilding my lab environment on my new laptop, when I came across this strange issue that when I want to browse to a page using Internet Explorer 11, I received the message “This page can’t be displayed“.

When I browse to the same page using a different browser (in my case Google Chrome), I was able to browse to the page without this message.

After digging into this problem I found a setting in Internet Explorer 11 that apparently prevents browsing to lab environment pages. It’s called “Enhanced Protection Mode“.

After disabling this setting I was able to browse to the page without the message “This page can’t be displayed“.

Beware that the “Enhanced Protection Mode” setting is a security feature, and should be well considered before turning it off.
